Art in progress

On the top floor of one of our houses, we are creating a jungle look in two of our new cattery rooms. We are planning to extend the top floor of our two houses over the large roof terrace, then decorate the entire top floor in a style fitting to Bengals. This way we will get a huge space that can be kept accessible to the whole group of cats, or that can be divided into several smaller spaces if there are cats that don't like eachother very much or that may not be bred by our stud. There will also be a seperate space for outside girls to be bred. Mothers with kittens will be able to raise their litters in one of our livingrooms, for the kittens need constant exposure to kids and dogs to become the perfect household pets we want them to be. Also, the moms will not have to defend their kittens from other cats this way, which makes life easier on them and the other girls. As an added advantage, the chances of sick kittens will be greatly reduced this way.

The ladies will be allowed in the rest of the house in small groups as long as they don't spray. Except when the weather is fine and the doors are open, then they will all have to stay upstairs so they cannot get out in the street. In time we hope to cat-proof the garden and enable them to enjoy the outdoors together with us. With this sunny upstairs cattery we hope to make the cats happier by enabling them to live in a smaller group with companions they like. With several unspayed females there is usually some dominance trouble, and our current cat-room is too small to seperate the cats that dislike eachother. Also, there is no possibility to seperate the stud from his own daughters and the girls that are too young to be bred, and that makes it impossible to keep him as close to us and the other cats as we'd like. This will all change in the very near future!
